13 Jun Grade 4 And 5 Variety Show
The Grade 4 and 5 Drama classes began with a lesson on early Greek mythology and the two Greek drama muses of comedy and tragedy, Thalia and Melpomene. New concepts and vocabulary such as ‘skits’, ‘spoofs’ and ‘mimes’ were discussed, along with an old Russian fairy tale, ‘The Princess who Never Laughed’. Pupils learned how to express themselves using stage blocking, actions, expressions and gestures to tell a story instead of using words. The lessons required improvisation and collaboration of ideas in preparation for the ‘Grade 4 and 5 Variety Show: The Princess who Never Laughed’.
