26 Jul Thank you, Uplands and our extended community!
Uplands and our extended community are actively part of making a positive difference in the lives of others. KZN was torn apart by acts of looting and violence, and the images of destruction have been seen far and wide. However, communities have come together to give where they can. Gerrit Pieters and Greg Dane have proved that actions speak loader than words. Together with Cindy Walker and Tracey Russell, the ball was set in motion. A plea was made and our community responded. The drop-off point at Uplands started to swell – donations ranged from bakkie loads of fruit, vegetables and avocados to pallets of mielie meal, from boot loads of dry food down to the little shopping bags lovingly filled with essentials. Our community WANTED to be a part of the rebuilding and WANTED to show we care.
Last Friday, 300 families were assisted from the goods that were donated, and this morning the second truck left for KZN. The Hilton Emergency Relief effort is on standby to receive and distribute our donations. To those we know and those of you who gave silently and anonymously – thank you!
