22 Feb Uplands Open Day 2020
Our annual Uplands Open Day took place on Saturday 22nd February.
Our Uplands Pre-Preparatory School hosted its ‘Mini Olympics’ Sports Day on Saturday 22nd February. The children made a grand entrance to the song ‘Chariots of Fire’, while waving their flags and enjoying all the applause. It was a fun-filled celebration for the children as they participated in a variety of innovative activities. It was really heart-warming to see all the children take part with such enthusiasm and eagerness, while their parents, grandparents, siblings and friends watched and cheered them on.
The Preparatory enjoyed a morning of Junior Rugby and Netball Skills training, which was on show on the sports fields. Marimba and Gumboot Dancing were on display in the Motion Room. Senior Rugby and Netball skills training were also on show on the sports fields. The annual Open Day this past weekend saw a hive of activity at the Preparatory. This included the Junior Choir practice, the Marimba Band and Gumboot Dancers, Art displays and Netball and Rugby skills sessions. It was great to meet many new families to introduce them to the Preparatory School and all that we have to offer.
At the College, over a hundred pupils wrote the Scholarship and Entrance Examinations for entry into Grade 8 for 2021. Families were given the opportunity to watch a Cultural Showcase in our Amphitheatre and presentations were made by the College Leadership and Pastoral Care team. Tours of our campus and boarding took place thereafter.
For those Grade7 pupils who were interested in boarding at the school, the day continued with a boarding experience. Pupils from near and far were given the opportunity to experience what boarding at Uplands is all about by spending the night in one of the four boarding houses. There was a total of 34 boys and 27 girls who chose to participate in this experience.
