On a crisp, misty Founders’ & Friends Saturday morning, a group of enthusiastic birders gathered for the annual Uplands Guided Bird Walk. Exploring the rewilded areas of the Uplands campus, participants enjoyed sightings of almost 68 bird species. The bird of the day was undoubtedly the Cape Grassbird, a special sighting that rewarded those who had braved the early start.
With birders ranging in age from 8 to 80, the walk was enjoyed by all. Afterwards, Uplands scones and hot tea and coffee, generously supplied by Empact, provided a welcome opportunity to share highlights from the walk.
A heartfelt thank you to Ian Hobson, Nic Squires and Warren Moore for sharing their knowledge and passion for birding with us. Their expertise and willingness to guide the group made the experience all the more rewarding. A memorable morning on the Uplands campus, and a wonderful addition to the Founders & Friends Weekend.
