College Co-Curricular and Logistics Deputy Head is Announced

In a further scoop Uplands College has appointed Mr Dean Forword in this critical role to lead the prestigious school towards greater success across the co-curricular aspects of sport, culture and service at the College. In the continued strategy by the school to actively identify and attract talent, an extremely exacting and transparent recruitment process took place.

A real team player, Dean is driven by  action and will be using his excellent problem-solving skills to identify new and exciting opportunities for Uplands. His deep knowledge of the micro-and-macro forces which can be identified in an educational environment will be a great asset to the Uplands stakeholders. Dean is currently the Senior Housemaster at Michaelhouse, while also spending the first half of this year as Acting Deputy Rector, this post Allan Laing’s departure.

His background in financial accounting and degree from the University of Cape Town, has led to his many years of teaching experience at SACS and Michaelhouse where he was Head of Department as well as an IEB marker.

Dean looks forward to the opportunity to provide career enrichment across the campus and to developing new opportunities for individuals. There is a strong movement towards adding value to each pupil at Uplands. He has significant experience in great coaching programmes in his previous capacities at some of the leading private South African schools. A competent sportsman who played South African U17 cricket and rugby at a high level at UCT. Dean has 10 years’ experience in coaching First Team cricket at Michaelhouse as well as numerous rugby A Teams.

Dean has a love for music and is looking forward to working with the Music and Drama Department in an effort to continue to grow and develop this aspect of Uplands College.
