Uplands College presented the Broadway musical hit, “Sister Act”, over the 13th, 14th and 15th May 2024.
The staff involved in the show began preparations a year in advance and worked tirelessly on honing the acting, singing and choreography for the production. The plot follows the story of Deloris, a down-and-out nightclub singer who witnesses a murder and takes refuge in a convent. While there, she is tasked with taking over the (initially, seemingly untalented) choir of nuns. While a gang of thugs attempt to track her down, she forms unexpected friendships and finds out far more about herself than she ever knew.
The cast was made up of students from Grades 9 to 12 and the role of Deloris was shared by two actresses, Lee-Ann Kholwane and Shanique Dube. Other lead roles were performed by Erin Durek, Cate Storm, Katie Mills, Eric Cardoso and Max Östlind. The cast and crew are congratulated on an outstanding production which received rave reviews. Bravo to all involved!
