Uplands is proud to celebrate the outstanding achievement of Siphesihle and Thubelihle Marule, who have been selected for the prestigious U16 Elite Player Development (EPD) Squad. Their selection follows exceptional performances while representing the Pumas at this year’s U16 Grant Khomo Week.

The Marule twins began their Uplands journey in Grade 8 after being awarded the Kgwale Le Mollo (KLM) Scholarship in collaboration with Uplands. Since then, they have flourished as outstanding sportsmen and role models, excelling both on and off the field. Their dedication, talent and teamwork have set them apart, earning recognition on a national stage.

The EPD programme is a cornerstone in South African rugby, designed to identify and nurture the country’s most promising young players. Participants receive high-performance coaching, technical skills development, and the opportunity to train alongside the best in their age group. Siphesihle and Thubelihle will join the 2025 SA Schools coaching team at Boland Landbou from 5 – 11 October, an important step on the pathway to future provincial and national honours.

“Uplands is immensely proud of Siphesihle and Thubelihle,” said Mr Dean Forword, Deputy Head of Co-Curricular at Uplands College. “Their commitment, discipline and natural flair embody the spirit of Uplands sport. We look forward to continuing to guide, coach and mentor them on their journey ahead.”

This achievement not only reflects the hard work and determination of the Marule brothers but also highlights the impact of the KLM Scholarship partnership and Uplands’ commitment to developing robust sports programmes and opportunities for its pupils.
