Despite the rain, there was a wonderful sense of excitement and joy as our new Grade 1 pupils arrived for their very first day of school. Smiling faces and eager footsteps set the tone for a memorable beginning to their Preparatory School journey.
This year marked the introduction of a special new tradition: every Grade 1 child rang a bell as a symbolic induction into the Uplands Preparatory School. This meaningful moment forms part of a journey that comes full circle, as pupils will once again ring the hall bell when they leave Grade 7, and later, the bell at the College when they complete Grade 12.
A vibrant balloon arch welcomed the children, reflecting a rainbow theme of hope and positivity for the year ahead. Our dedicated Grade 1 teachers, Mrs Tamaryn Fargher and Mrs Michelle Shelton, worked tirelessly to prepare their classrooms and were delighted to welcome their new pupils with warmth and enthusiasm.
The Grade 1s were presented with their house shirts by the Grade 7 pupils during the House assemblies: yellow for Ogilvie, red for Webb and green for Fuller, marking their official inclusion in the school community.
We look forward to an exciting and enriching year ahead for our Grade 1 pupils as they begin their Foundation Phase journey.
