CELESTE DE ALMEIDA (College Class of 2017)

Whilst studying towards a Bachelor of Business Science (Finance with Accounting), at UCT, I recall some memories of my time at Uplands that I would love to share.

I have a very distinct memory of Mrs Moira Clarke’s special teaching style. She really brought the element of fun in the infamous saying “Maths is fun”. I found her lessons amazing, interesting and I learnt aspects of Maths which I will never forget.

A highlight for me was the 2017 Festival Sports Derby against Penryn. The 1st Team Rugby game was tough, but the spirit and pride that was displayed on that day, drove us to a victory that I will forever cherish. What an achievement! We were all enthralled and ecstatic with the final result!

For the youngsters at Uplands I have this advice – embrace every moment you spend at school. Walk all those kilometres on the Grade 10 Journey, attend all the events, be a sport and show support to all of your teams. One day you will look back and really treasure every memory you have.
