Old Uplander: Jade Rogerson (College Class of 2013) is an Uplands teacher

I started at Uplands Pre-Preparatory in 2018 as an intern, after I had finished my BA Law (Psychology) degree at Tuks. I also spent a year in America as an Au Pair.

I decided to do my PGCE in Early Childhood Development and Foundation Phase whilst working at Uplands with the Grade 0 teachers. Working as their intern and assistant really opened my eyes to the colourful world of teaching, especially with young children. This led me to discovering a love for working with young children. During that year I learned so much from these two brilliant teachers and Pre-Prep team guided by Heather Prior. This is an incredibly happy, and beautiful place to work at and it didn’t take long for me to realize that I was becoming a part of an awesome, tight-knit team of ladies who were passionate about teaching these youngsters.

In September 2018, I was blessed to become the new Grade 0000 (2-3 year olds) teacher, working full-time. Although exciting,  the road ahead was daunting as there was so much to learn. Fortunately my teaching partner, Amber, was there to guide and support me. We have now been teaching together for almost 3 years and I appreciate her invaluable guidance. Every day is different, yet always full of fun, laughter and love. I honestly wouldn’t want to be anywhere else.

Quote on image: I walk into Uplands each day feeling blessed and happy to be where I am, and am incredibly passionate about moulding the minds of these beautiful tiny children.
