Uplands College Commends the Outstanding Achievements of the Matric Class of 2023

Uplands College is delighted to announce the remarkable achievements of the Matric Class of 2023, once again attaining a 100% pass rate.

Notably, an impressive 96% of the graduating students have met the requirements for Bachelor’s Degree Studies, solidifying the institution’s commitment to excellence in education.

In a year where educational challenges persisted, Uplands College acknowledges the collaborative efforts of students and teachers, as well as the invaluable support and commitment of the parent body. The outstanding accomplishments of the Class of 2023 serve as a testament to the holistic approach to education at Uplands, inspiring others and paving the way for promising futures.

Key Highlights:

  • Top Performers: Four Uplands Matric graduates distinguished themselves in the top 1% in South Africa across three subjects, showcasing the calibre of education provided at Uplands.
  • Exceptional Results: Uplands achieved outstanding overall results, with 21% of grades being A’s and 13 subject averages surpassing the national IEB average. An impressive 11 subjects recorded averages above 70%.
  • Individual Achievements:
    • Jade Tinker: Achieved an outstanding 7 distinctions, ranking in the Top 1% for Business Studies and Dramatic Arts.
    • Claudia Klesse: Secured 7 distinctions and was listed in the Top 1% for Business Studies.
    • Eden Izeboud: Attained 6 distinctions, with a Top 1% placement in Business Studies.
    • Demelza Awogu: Achieved 6 distinctions.
  • Recognition for Excellence: Sanele Mpofu excelled in isiZulu First Additional Language, ranking in the Top 1% for this subject.
  • Notable Consistency: Several students achieved high distinctions, including 5 distinctions for Torr Turner, Delouise Alberts, Nicholas Ross and Lesedi Sedibe, 4 distinctions for Nthabiseng de Almeida, Lara Vienings, Caitlin Davids and Sanele Mpofu and 3 distinctions for Eden Stone, Palesa Mazibuko, Isabella Wood, Danilo Tajú and Miria Hadjicosti
  • Commendation from the Head of College: Mr Allan Laing, Head of College, expressed immense pride in the students’ achievements, emphasising the impact of their success as a lasting legacy for future generations.
