Uplands’ new Chaplain

An alumnus of Uplands Prep, Matthew brings a wealth of experience from his diverse career in journalism, teaching and ministry, notably as the Assistant Chaplain at St Andrew’s College. After completing his secondary schooling at Kingswood College, Matthew graduated with an Honours Degree in Journalism & International Relations from Rhodes University and a Bachelor of Theology from the South African Theological Seminary. His professional journey also includes time spent in the UK and UAE.

Matthew, who has a passion for writing, public speaking, outdoor activities, sports, productivity and people, is excited to return to White River with his wife, Kyndal. He is eager to contribute to the spiritual life of our school, reflecting our core value of Faith. With his rich background and ongoing theological work, Matthew is well-equipped to support and enhance our community’s spiritual growth. He will be working closely with Father Mark Spratt, who will assist in his transition. We look forward to welcoming Matthew and witnessing the positive impact of his warmth, energy and fresh perspectives on our school.
