What an unforgettable evening was had at the Uplands Founders’ Evening celebrations!
On a beautiful autumn evening, a packed audience enjoyed an incredible display of Uplands talent, from our youngest Pre-Preparatory dancers and the Preparatory Junior and Senior Choirs, to the College and Preparatory drama groups, musicians and performers.
One of the most moving moments of the evening was the annual Candle Lighting Ceremony, a much-loved Founders’ tradition honouring the founders of Uplands. In the darkness, candles were lit by pupils from Grade 0 to Matric, together with the school Heads, symbolising the knowledge, values and spirit carried out into the world by generations of Uplands pupils. It was a beautiful reminder of the strong sense of community and tradition that makes Uplands so special.
Chairman Mr Greg Dane gave an inspiring address, while Executive Head Sean Carlisle reflected on the rich heritage of Uplands as the school approaches 100 years. His announcement of the exciting Centenary Projects reminded everyone of the enduring Uplands ethos and the remarkable journey that began 98 years ago.
The evening was filled with energy, creativity and school spirit, ending with the audience on their feet, dancing in the aisles and in front of the stage during the lively performances by the Prep gumboot and drama groups.
Thank you to every pupil, staff member, parent and guest who made the evening such a memorable celebration of community, talent and tradition.
